W1max Goes Tweet Tweet
Oct 5th , 2009
Many people don’t see how twittering can work. The whole shebang with Twitter seems to be endless chatter and when discussing the usefulness of Twitter, big bosses sitting behind their big mahogany desks with pictures of their lovely families on vacation in some vacation spot somewhere….they smirk. ‘That’s kid stuff. I don’t see how it can work. Show me the stats, please, to prove what you’re saying is true.’
Well, here’s me…explaining how Twitter can work wonders for your business.
While it’s true that Twittering can be annoying and you don’t have to inform everyone what you’re eating for dinner and how long you took to clear your bowels but in terms of staying connected with your customers, this is one of the most powerful, LIVE interaction tool you can have with your ‘followers’.
P1W1Max is running a promotion and because of my dissatisfaction with the current ISP that I was/am/still am using, I tried W1max out. They have a 7 day trial going and I thought why not? Anything to get out of the rut that the biggest Malaysian internet service provider is putting me in – cutting me off work six times this year because of muddles and mistakes.
So, me and my friend was basically bitching about W1max, the advertisements, the copywriting, the slogan (which has something to do with private parts – it’s implied), and then me, the service. Ever since installing W1max, I’ve resolved myself to watching the red, yellow and green light like a hawk. Despite covering ss2 and many parts of DJ, there’s this little loophole whereby service is next to nothing. I’m living there….in the friggin’ loophole. Tell me about it…sheer luck, I guess.
So, we tweeted back and forth and lo and behold, someone picked it up….w1max people, of course! And they responded instantly to what we were ‘bitching’ about and then tagging me along with it.

I don’t know who w1max have hired to work their marketing…they’re onto the 21st century online marketing track, dude! This is how online social networking and twittering is supposed to work, so, needless to say, I am quite impressed with their team.
Anyway, my friend and I were twittering about w1max a little and here’s what happens. They’ve got guys on twitter looking out for tweets about w1max. Once they pick up the tweet, they follow the person and retweet it with a response. It appears simultaneously in the twitter profile page of people mentioned in the tweet. For example, by typing @somebodysname, the tweet will appear on the ‘somebodysname’s’ twitter profile.
Eg: @somebodysname Thanks for the information. Been helpful @anotherperson @uselessbugger
When you type it that way, the live tweet goes to all three persons’ pages (those with the @ sign before them). It generally creates awareness, spreads the message and connects people together. So, despite not liking the service that w1max has given me so far, I do have a very good impression about the people working there.
Do you see how this can work for your business yet? Instant updates, connectivity, direct communication, the personal touch, tagging and spreading the name. And all you have to do is go ‘tweet tweet’. Sweet.
For what it's worth, follow me on twitter if you wish...
