Push sale does not work
Dec 11th , 2009
It's a powerful thing. It can propel your business. It can make your business soar. It's going to make you rich!
Cue evil laughter.
It's called....drum roll....online social networking. YES! This is the free engine that is going to send your kids to the best school there is on this planet and you are never going to have to work again....ever! I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but it's not true at all. Most online social networking experts will agree on one thing – that these online tools are powerful. Different ones have different types of benefits so, you have to do your homework and weigh in on the pros and cons. For instance, how much time do you want to spend on each of them.
Three hours on Facebook is, frankly, too much. How about twenty minutes and then multiple tweets and link-checks on Twitter? That sounds more like it.
With these sites, what people miss is that there is no pushing. Just like network marketing, you push and people run for their lives. And that is the basic principle to be used when you are on these online social sites...you pull them. You show them stuff, you share, you make friends, you say 'hi'. You don't push stuff down anyone's throat by posting a promotion and link on their facebook profile page. I've personally removed about twelve of such postings on MY facebook wall because it felt rude.
Anyway, twas no fault of theirs because they did not know any better, so everything's cool.
How about doing things to impress the socks off of your potential customers. ASK for business but don't cross the line of being intrusive. Sending personal messages is perfectly fine, in my personal opinion, but other online social networking experts may have another stand on this but as of this moment, I think things are working out brilliantly for those who are working with me on online promotion for my clients' and my sites.
Remember, don't push. Always let them gravitate towards you.
