'How do you promote yourself as a freelance writer for hire when the market is so saturated? Every other day, there is someone out there who can churn a few sentences out starts promoting himself or herself as a freelance writer on the internet!' screams my friend. Can we blame her?
Here she is completely committed to her new-found love of writing for a living and there you have it, tens of millions of people out there who are promoting their writing career online. All I said to my friend was this, 'Well, on cyberspace, it's a dog eat dog world.'
The only thing you can do if you are also a freelance writer for hire is to join the hustle and bustle. Sitting here, complaining is not going to do you a smidgen of good because while you are wallowing, some other people in some country out there with internet access is already promoting his or her services...LIKE MAD. So, the first thing you have got to do is to get down to doing whatever they are doing...and more.
Here is what the 'more' you can do.
Promote your blog or website if you have it. For example, you can do up sample articles that you can do as a freelance writer for hire. Write really touching stories or share your experience with the rest of the world. Listen, even pet dogs have their very own blog or website or domain name these days, if you don't have one, you are going to fall behind.
And then you get on twitter and create an account for yourself and from there on, all you need to do is to start making friends and tweeting around on cyberspace. You will soon find yourself in an irresistible world of making friends and networking that will make you a popular freelance writer for hire.
Have a Facebook account and start making friends there too. This is pretty much the same thing as Twitter except, it's a whole lot more personal here. Be careful of what you share.
Write every day and start an online article marketing campaign. Post the articles that you have written into article directories like ezinearticles, goarticles, articledashboard, etc. From there, you will soon see exposure to your freelance writing services.
Send emails out to other more established freelance writers who might be looking around for a good writer to hire. You'll never know who might find you interesting and affordable.
