Terrible But True
Marsha Maung
23rd October , 2009Was doing my regular surfing and researching for materials that I can use for my articles. Boring stuff. But things pick up when I start writing, of course. I google things up here and there hoping to find something useful that I can add to the article and then I got frustrated. And you want to know why? I was coming up with nothing. A lot of gibberish search engine optimized sites and SEO articles and that was it.
Everyone in the writing business knows that there's literally nothing in an SEO article. They're just a bunch of words put together to make 'SOME' sense and hope that the readers will find the rest of the page more interesting that the article. Most of the time, search engine optimized articles are written when the writer is sleepy because it's the best time to whack things out blindly without making any sense and yet make a quick buck, you know. Seriously.
So, you get the idea that I don't pretty much like SEO articles too much – I DO write them but I always try to plump it up with some ACTUAL FACTS and write it in such a way that it doesn't turn people off the way the said articles did. I actually care whether the readers stayed on or not because for the sake of my clients, they're in it to make money. If the readers came in and go off within seconds, no one's making any money but me.
Of course, I am no saint. I hate doing it because it's without personality and seriously, search engine optimized articles are insulting to human intelligence.
But you know what the irony is? It is the fact that google ranks them higher than some other really good stuff out there. I have to bump around blogs, search Facebook, go on twitter and maybe use alternate keywords to find stuff to read which defeats the purpose! The reason why I am using google to find information is because it was supposed to be reliable. It's supposed to deliver me the content that I want to find, am I right on this count?
And yet, search engine optimized articles are given priority. Did I miss something?
An example of a SEO article would be this:-
keyword: writing seo article
e.g.: writing seo article is really easy because when you have nothing to do, you sit down in front of your computer and start (insert keyword). One article can earn you more or less USD$2; (insert keyword) does not pay a lot but if you can begin (insert keyword) in bulk, imagine the kind of money you'll be earning. (insert keyword) is also considered a hobby of mine. It does not require thinking or decision-making. (insert keyword) is actually making me very rich! I love (insert keyword)!
The awful truth is that keyword-based articles rank higher in a popular search engine like google, this is a fact and we will have to deal with it. Personally, I hope the people behind the gargantuan corporation does something to change their algorithm.
Otherwise, we're all going to just hop over to twitter for everything.
