Making Your Articles More Interesting To Read

Image CreditSomeone recently asked me to review one of her articles...something she wrote for one of her clients. Beats me why she would ask me to review her articles but in the end, I did. The article wasn't bad....not too bad at all because I've seen and hired freelance web content writers in the past and they did terrible jobs. So, this girl's got a semblance of a future ahead.
You hear a complaint coming? Well, let's just say, very simply put, that it lacked personality and character. In order to catch people's attention in the article and get them to keep reading, the article needs to have a bit of a eccentricity. The unique use of words pulls them in, keeps them entertained...and they won't feel like they are reading something written by a robot.
But that's where things gets tough for newbie freelance web content writers; lack of experience and the inability to write like they are talking to an audience. Blogging helps writers express themselves more openly and freely because they are talking about themselves.
Learning how to rephrase yourself and rearrange a sentence is crucial if you intend to write freelance. Web content writers contend with deadwood emotions when peaking at the 7th article of the day. Writers need to drink at least three cups of coffee to keep the eyelids from closing. And they also need step in and out of shoes CONSISTENTLY as they fleet from one topic to another. They battle the urge to stop writing because they are developing a serious case of carpal tunnel syndrome.
So, yes....the writing is affected. The quality of the articles deteriorate in tandem with the number of hours you've spent writing.
So, the tip in this article is simple. One, write like you are talking .Two, write like you are writing about yourself. If you have a blog, practice it there and be mindful of the way you are putting sentences together. Refrain from starting the sentence with 'this is the most...' and then 'it is very...' and then 'if you are....' and then change the sentence around if you find the style becoming boring.
For example, freelance web content writers should learn how to rephrase a simple sentence like this. 'Malaysia is a country that many races call home. It is home to Indians, Chinese, Malays and many other different people from different ethnicity.'
Rephrase it into something more interesting to read...like 'Walk along any street in Malaysia and you will be enthralled with the different ethnicity, side by side, living in harmony. Indians are selling their murukus, the Chinese are burning their incense and the Malays are wearing their traditional outfits performing their prayers. Individually, they are so completely different. Together, they are Malaysia.'
Now, don't you think the second version is slightly more interesting to read?
